regard for one’s own well-being and happiness (chiefly considered as a desirable rather than narcissistic characteristic).
Self-love, warmth and feelings of openness are really natural to us, yet self-love has traditionally been seen as a moral flaw, akin to vanity and selfishness. However, in 1956, psychologist and social philosopher Erich Fromm proposed that loving oneself is different from being egocentric, conceited or arrogant, meaning instead caring about oneself, and taking responsibility for oneself.
We’re taught by society that our worth is found in the idols of our culture, status, technology, certain attractiveness, youth, sex, power, money, and romantic relationships. But if you base your self-worth on the external world, you’ll never be capable of self-love. We often flood our minds with thoughts of, “I’m not enough, I don’t have enough, and I don’t do enough.”
Erich Fromm proposed a re-evaluation of self-love in a positive sense, arguing that in order to be able to truly love another person, a person needs first to love oneself, by having to respect oneself, and know oneself (e.g. be realistic and honest about one’s strengths and weaknesses).
Feeling worthy requires you to see yourself with fresh eyes of self-awareness, and love. Acceptance and love must come from within.
“To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh
You don’t have to be different to be worthy. Your worth is in your true nature, a core of love and inner goodness. You are love. You are a beautiful light. We can bury our magnificence, but it’s impossible to destroy.
Loving ourselves isn’t a one time event. It’s an endless, every-day, moment by moment ongoing process.

Patting myself on the back (or wherever it feels good)
Laughing with, not at, myself
Touching and being touched with love
Allowing myself to just BE
Making silly faces
Filling myself with the joy, peace, and love all around me
Gazing into my own eyes and seeing my beauty
Letting my light SHINE Celebrating … me!
Embracing myself and life to the fullest
Massaging Mother Earth with my toes
Owning my “stuff” then letting it go
Feeling… healing… and dealing with my emotions
Dancing sweet medicine with Heaven and Earth
Giving thanks for all things great and small
Letting my inner kid out
Caressing and blessing
Breathing in peace, out release
Remembering: I AM LOVE.
